I love teaching young children – from art to science to literacy, playing in the block center with them, giggling with them on the playground, and leading nature hunts. Kids are usually so enamored with exploring and learning, and their enthusiasm is often infectious.
You can definitely see this with kids and math! The way the children make patterns with nature, count their books, and measure their friends with blocks. And that doesn’t even begin to touch on all of the ways young children think mathematically.
Encourage that love of all things math with engaging, hands-on activities. I don’t think these activities always have to be based on the theme or topic the kids are learning about.
But sometimes it’s fun to plan some themed activities, right?! So I put together over 15 math activities that are perfect for Valentine’s Day.
