Pumpkin calendar numbers are a great addition to your classroom this fall. If you like swapping out your calendar numbers each month, grab your own set today.

These numbers work well with both linear and traditional calendars. And they aren’t just for your calendar, either! You can use them in a variety of math lessons, small groups, and even your math center. I love how versatile the pumpkin numbers are.

Incorporate the pumpkin number cards into your next pumpkin theme, use them before a trip to the pumpkin patch, or just add them to all of your fun fall plans.

Pumpkin Calendar Numbers

As I already mentioned above, the pumpkin numbers can be used in so many different ways. AND they’re super easy to prep. A win-win, in my book.

How to Prep the Pumpkin Numbers

Grab the materials you need to get started. I don’t use that much when preparing calendar numbers. Here’s what I tend to use (I may get commissions for purchases made through links in this post):

And that’s really all you need to get those pumpkin calendar numbers ready to go! Of course, you might want to gather a few more items to use in conjunction with the number cards:

You don’t really need those, per se, but they’re fun to use with the calendar numbers.

Once you have the materials on-hand, there are just a few prepping steps. First, get your copy of the numbered pumpkins at the bottom of this post. Then open the file in the most up-to-date version of Adobe Reader. Print the numbers out, making extra copies as needed. The numbers are 3-inches by 3-inches, so be sure to adjust your printer settings if you want a different size.

Finally, cut and laminate the numbers. And then you’re good to go!

How to Use the Pumpkin Calendar Numbers

Use the pumpkin numbers as the daily pieces of your classroom calendar, be it traditional or linear. I like that these work well with pocket chart calendars, as well as cardstock calendars. And the numbers can be used outside of the calendar too!

Pair the pumpkin number cards with loose parts or manipulatives. Then have the kids explore one-to-one correspondence by adding the corresponding number of manipulatives next to each number card.

Make two copies of the numbers. Set up a Memory-like grid game, with the numbers hidden. Have children take turns trying to match numbers.

Have the kids practice number formation with the pumpkin calendar numbers as visual cues. Children can use chalkboards or white boards to practice writing. Or make a simple orange-colored sensory writing tray for kids to write in using their fingers.

Challenge your students to put the numbers in order from 0 to 35. And then see if they can go in reverse numerical order!

Pair the pumpkin numbers with other calendar numbers. Then work with the children to teach and practice the concept of patterning.

These are just some of the ways you can incorporate the pumpkin calendar numbers into your early childhood classroom. How do YOU plan to use the numbers with your students?

What Skills are Kids Practicing with the Pumpkin Number Cards?

The pumpkin calendar numbers are pretty simple, right? Even though they’re very basic, you can use them for SO much! Here’s a list of some of the skills you can explore with the number cards:

  • Number identification
  • One-to-one correspondence
  • Number formation
  • Numerical order
  • Patterns
  • Addition
  • Subtraction
  • Graphing
  • Measurement

That’s not a full list, but that covers many of the concepts you can use with the number cards. Not too bad for such a simple printable, right?
