What are Kids Learning with Apple Crafts?
If you’re a regular Fun-A-Day reader, you know how much I love using process art in preschool and kindergarten classrooms. Don’t worry, I’m gathering some apple art ideas to share with you later, too!
But just because I think process art needs to be included in the classroom doesn’t mean I think crafts need to be excluded. Kids can learn and practice important skills through crafting, too! Here are some concepts the apple crafts for preschoolers cover:
- Color identification
- Scissor skills
- Fine motor skills
- Bilateral coordination
- Apple life cycle
- Observational skills
- Descriptive vocabulary
- Following multi-step directions
- Counting
That’s not an exhaustive list, and we can’t forget the benefits of creativity and fun, too! Because those are so incredibly important in the early childhood classroom!
While I’m not opposed to crafts at all, I do think it’s important to mention one related thing. It’s important the children are allowed to craft their own way. Yes, set guidelines and expectations ahead of time (like “paint stays on the paper”). But don’t expect each child’s craft to look identical. Allow for creativity and individuality along the way! And for the love of all things glitter, please don’t re-do the kids’ crafts for them.

Before jumping into all of the apple crafts for preschoolers, let’s chat supplies. I highly recommend taking a peek in your craft closet to see what items you already have on-hand. Then choose your favorite apple crafts and determine if you need to grab anything else.
