Are you a fan of those little erasers that abound nowadays? I have to tell you, I have loved them for years and years now.
In fact, I distinctly remember using them with my kindergarten students back in the early 2000s.
I find them to be a great way to shake things up and make activities more engaging for young children. You can find mini erasers that complement almost any preschool themes you teach!
Easy Halloween Activities for Preschoolers
Are you wondering how to use mini erasers in your preschool classroom this Halloween? I have got you covered!
Below you’re going to find fifteen easy Halloween activities that incorporate those fun mini erasers the kids (and teachers!) love.
Don’t have any Halloween mini erasers? That’s perfectly fine too!
You can swap the erasers out for manipulatives that you already have on-hand. Possibilities include pompoms, buttons, Unifix Cubes, or small toys.
I used only items I already had on-hand to set up each of the following Halloween activities.
If you don’t have the same supplies, just swap things out for what you do have. The point here is easy. Don’t over-complicate things for yourself! (Yes, this is a “pot calling the kettle black” situation.)
Making Letters with Spiders
To set this up, place out some spider mini erasers and a printable letter mat.
This letter mat is from Preschool Teacher 101’s spider lesson plan set.
You can make your own by simply writing a letter on a piece of construction paper, too.
Have the children use their fingers or kid-sized tweezers to place the spider erasers over the letter. Encourage them to form the letter correctly as they do so.
Shape Mats and Pumpkin Mini Erasers
Grab some pumpkin mini erasers and a pumpkin shape mat. Give the kids some tweezers or tongs.
And then sit back and watch them explore fine motor skills, shape formation, counting, etc.

Easy Halloween Patterns Activities
Set out a simple, Halloween-themed mat for the children to create patterns on.
We used a felt bat that I picked up at Michael’s a while back, along with bat and pumpkin mini erasers from Target.
The ever-beloved kid-sized tweezers add more of a fine motor challenge to this simple pattern activity.

Super Sorting With Halloween Erasers
Break out nine different mini erasers for this fun Halloween sorting activity!
Challenge your preschool mathematicians to a SUPER sorting experiment. Can they really sort NINE different erasers?
We used a pumpkin-shaped tick-tac-toe game to help visualize nine different areas for sorting.
You could use a basic tic-tac-toe board, or simply draw one on a piece of paper. The kids would be fine sorting into nine separate small containers as well.
Counting Small Eraser Spiders
Another idea to add to your list of easy Halloween activities for the preschoolers . . . counting spiders.
I placed out some spider and web erasers, along with a funky spider web cake stand and some printable spider numbers.
The spider numbers are from Preschool Teacher 101’s preschool spider theme plans.
Remember, if you don’t have all of the same materials just switch things out for what you do have!
Preschool Picking Pumpkins Fine Motor Fun
Do you ever clean out your pantry and find a bag of very-much expired split peas all the way in the back? No, just me?
Well, if you ever have this happen to you consider making a fine motor sensory bin!
I placed the split peas into a small metal tray. Then I added some pumpkin mini erasers and tweezers.
The kids can use the tweezers to “pick” the pumpkins from the patch. Then encourage them to set the pumpkin patch back up for their friends.

One-to-One Correspondence with Fun Erasers
Sometimes I wander the Bullseye’s Playground at Target hoping to find inexpensive items for preschool ideas. Do you do that?
On one such trip, I grabbed a small wooden calendar set for $3. Perfect for all kinds of things, right?!
It definitely prompted this easy Halloween activity!
Place out the calendar board, numbers one to seven, and a random mix of Halloween mini erasers.
Then encourage the children to put the numbers in order and add the correct amount of small erasers.
Easy Halloween Activities with Tiny Erasers Letter Formation
I like to reuse and re-purpose materials as much as possible. Here’s a simple example – that split pea sensory bin from earlier? Yes, it got turned into a literacy activity!
The same metal tray and the same split peas. But I switched out the erasers for small jack-o-lanterns. And I added printable pumpkin letter cards.
Having two colors of erasers turned out to be a great idea! One color was used for the capital letters, while the other color was used for the lowercase letters. (Of course, not all kids are going to do so, but it was cool to see.)

Halloween Daily Questions
Asking children questions each morning is a great way to sign in. It’s also perfect for teaching graphing to young children.
So why not incorporate that into your easy Halloween activities this October?
Place the word cards out on a table, or write the question on a piece of construction paper. Here I asked, “Do you like spiders?”
Add the “yes” and “no” columns and then ask the children to respond. The kids can place a small spider eraser underneath their answer.
The printable words here are from the larger graph set within Preschool Teacher 101’s spider lesson plans. I printed them at half their usual size for this activity.
Simple Sorting with Bats and Jack O’ Lanterns
Tiny erasers are perfect for all kinds of sorting activities. Here’s a super simple one that focuses on sorting just two types of erasers.
This is great for children who are just starting to work on the concept of sorting. We used bats and jack o’ lanterns because they’re so distinctive when compared to each other.
I had a fun bat tray I picked up from Michael’s a while back. It seemed to be the perfect vehicle for the “bats versus not bats” sorting done here.
You can, of course, use black and orange construction paper instead.
Making Words with Candy Erasers
Grab some small Halloween erasers, write out some sight words, and you’re activity is ready to go!
You can also print out the words like I did. I just used a leftover word from a spider graphing activity (the regular size version of the cards in the daily questions activity above).
Candy Corn Counting
Pair candy corn erasers with number cards! The children can work on counting, number identification, and one-to-one correspondence with this hands-on math idea.

Fine Motor Trick or Treating
As promised, this post is filled with EASY Halloween activities and cute mini erasers.
This one definitely fits the bill! Adorable Halloween erasers the kids can use to trace over the dotted lines.
I made this as a free printable set for members of Fun-A-Day’s free email community. You can grab your own set (there are 8 different strips) at the very bottom of this post.
The fine motor strips can be used as cutting strips, or with dry erase markers. But why not pair them with erasers too?!
I just placed them inside dry erase pockets for this activity. There’s one strip on each side of the pocket, and it’s set on a small table so two children can do the activity at the same time.
Easy Halloween Sorting Activities with Erasers
I’ve mentioned that these little erasers are great for sorting. And I love that it is super simple to adjust the sorting complexity.
Here’s a setup for sorting three different colors. Halloween erasers and a 3-part metal bin. Easy peasy.
You can use construction paper or simple bowls in place of this funky metal contraption. I like to mix it up when possible. Little differences can be engaging for the kids.
Halloween Syllable Activity
Use those cute Halloween erasers to explore phonemic awareness too!
I printed out a few pumpkin-themed picture cards from Preschool Teacher 101’s fall lesson plans.
Only place a few out at a time so as not to overwhelm the children. You could even do it one picture at a time.
Model and explain how to find the syllables in a word. Have the kids add one eraser for every syllable in the word.
Go back and encourage the children to touch each eraser as they say the word broken up into syllables.
Halloween Fine Motor Sorting
Technically this is the 16th ideas. But I couldn’t resist adding just one more sorting invitation to our easy Halloween activities.
Just look at these awesome ceramic heads! Could YOU resist adding them to your Halloween collection?!
Place them out on the table, along with corresponding small erasers and kid-sized tweezers or tongs.
Then let the children get sorting!
You can also do this with white, black, and green construction paper.
