‘Tis the season to get slimy, fa-la-la-la . . . wait, that’s not right. But getting to share some awesome Christmas slime recipes with you sure does make things “jolly.” Be sure to add a few of these slimy recipes to your list of Christmas activities for kids.

Christmas is such a fun time in preschool! Mostly because the children are so excited about the holidays.
My students have also always LOVED making and playing with slime. So, I thought, “why not combine the two?!” And I compiled a list of my favorite Christmas slime recipes to share with you.
Christmas Slime
Christmas is magical! Children, especially young preschoolers, are always so enamored with all things Christmas. They love the lights, the decorations, the big man with the white beard, and, not to mention, the presents!
Slime is fun! Not only does slime offer a ton of learning opportunities, it just so happens to be one of the kids’ favorite activities.
A bonus is that it is a great source of sensory input for preschoolers. We all know some preschoolers really need the sensory input, while others just really enjoy it.
Fun-A-Day Christmas Slime Recipes
Together, Christmas and slime make for the perfect holiday activity for both learning and sensory input.
I’ve made a few types of Christmas slime with both my students and my son at home. Here are our favorite Christmas slime recipes:
I’ve noticed over the years that preschoolers really respond to scented activities. And peppermint smells amazing, doesn’t it?
So it’s probably no surprise that our candy cane slime was a big hit, especially around Christmas. You can make it, or some version of it, other times of the year as well.
For a fun twist (see what I did there?!) on our traditional liquid starch candy cane slime, we made some candy cane shaving cream slime.
It has such a fluffy texture that the kids just love playing with.
We also made this super silky gingerbread man butter slime. It might be my favorite slime in terms of texture.
This activity is perfect for a gingerbread man theme around Christmas time.
We loved making this super easy Christmas tree slime, too. We used two different types of glitter just because we could!
Pair it with the free printable ornament number cards to make it a math activity, too.
Christmas Character Slime Recipes
When I think of Christmas, I always think of all of the fun Christmas movies. The following slime recipes pay homage to some of our favorite Christmas characters.

Santa Claus is coming . . . to your classroom this holiday season with the amazing Santa slime from Glued to My Crafts. This tactile activity is full of fine motor fun!
Let your students enjoy creating their very own Rudolph face and antlers again and again with the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer slime from Midget Momma.
My Joy-Filled Life added a small red heart charm to some very green slime to make glittery Grinch slime! You could also include a larger heart-shaped cookie cutter for your students to see just how big the Grinch’s heart grew!
Slime and story time? Those two things can’t possibly go together. Think again! Thanks to the Santa Claus Christmas Blog, you can do both with the Clumsy The Elf Gets Slimed story and slime activity.

If Christmas had a signature scent, it would smell exactly like the peppermint slime by Natural Beach Living. The scent, combined with its festive colors, is sure to get your students into the holiday spirit!
Little Bins for Little Hands’ Christmas lights slime is an engaging way for the kids to work those fine motor muscles. They can pretend to be decorating their homes with a bunch of lights!
The Christmas explosion slime, by Momdot, uses edible cake decorations in their holiday slime. The colors bleed into the slime creating the effect of a Christmas explosion that kids will be infatuated with!
Okay, what preschooler doesn’t love talking about poop?! After making the Rudolph slime, let your kids experiment with making reindeer poop sparkle slime by That Kids Craft Site.
The Unprepared Mommy swirled together red and green slime, which made for the perfect Christmas look! This slime recipe will fit in really nicely with a Christmas theme.
The children will be so excited to get their hands on the holiday jingle bell slime by The Chaos and the Clutter. This would be a great opportunity for a science experiment. You can use the scientific method to test what happens to the ringing of the jingle bells when the slime oozes into them.

Slime Safety
Children can learn so much through the whole slime making process. It’s basically one big science experiment, and it should be treated as such.
Nothing, from the ingredients to the final product, should ever be put in mouths. Additionally, keep an eye out for any skin reactions. While I’ve never run into any issues, it’s still something to watch for.
As with all of the activities I share on Fun-A-Day, adult supervision is required. And, really, you’ll want to get in on the fun too, right!?
