How to Use the S’mores Calendar Numbers with Kids
Well, the first way is right there in the name – add them to your classroom calendar. These work with traditional, linear, and pocket chart calendars. Please note that they’re 3-inch squares, so adjust your printer settings if you need them to be a little smaller.

You can use the s’mores number cards as part of a simple decorative calendar, or one you use as a reference for the adults in the classroom. Nothing wrong with spicing up something you and your assistant (or co-teacher) keep an eye on through the week.
If you use the calendar as a teaching tool, the s’mores numbers add a bit of whimsy to the daily activity of calendar time. Kids can count the days in the month and then predict what’s coming next. You can take it a step further by making the numbers into a pattern using another set of numbers.
Even More Ideas for the S’mores Number Printable
Of course the s’mores calendar numbers don’t have to be contained to the calendar! You can definitely integrate them into whole group math lessons, small group math activities, and even into your math centers.
Here are a few more ideas to consider:
- Challenge the kids to put the numbered s’mores in order from 0 to 35. Then see if the children can do it in reverse!
- Pair the numbers with a simple sensory writing tray. Let your students practice writing numbers, using the s’mores cards as a reference.

- Teach or practice the concept of pattern by pairing the s’mores calendar numbers with another set, like my campfire calendar numbers.
- Play a simple memory-like game using multiple sets of numbered cards. You can easily focus on the numbers your students need to practice by making the game a small grid!
- Grab some manipulatives or loose parts. Then have the kids practice one-to-one correspondence by placing the appropriate number of manipulatives next to each s’mores number card.
- Use the numbers as indicators for the order your students need to line up to head out to specials or the playground.
- Measure the students, and yourself, using the numbers as a measurement tool.
I can seriously go on and on with ideas for how to use the s’mores calendar numbers. But I’m going to stop here for now. You and your students will likely come up with even more possibilities!
