How to Use the Humpty Dumpty Cut and Paste with Kids
Well, the first main way to use this Humpty Dumpty printable page is right there in the name . . . as a cut and paste activity! This keeps the focus on helping the children as they use scissors and glue.
Start off by reviewing the classic poem. Hopefully, you’ve spent time exploring the rhyme in a wide variety of ways before using the cutting printable. That way, your students are familiar with the order of the verses.
In a small group of students, show the kids the printable. Explain that the pictures at the bottom are all mixed up. You need their help to cut the images apart and glue them back in the correct order.
Let the children cut out the images along the bottom of the page, assisting as needed. Then walk them through the lines of the poem. Discuss which images correlate to each part of Humpty Dumpty. Have the students glue those pictures onto the appropriate squares.
Depending on the ages and needs of your students, some will need some help while others can handle this task more independently. You know your students best!
Other Ideas for the Fine Motor Humpty Dumpty Printable
In addition to using the Humpty Dumpty cut and paste in its original iteration, there are a few other ways to use the printable.
You can cut the 3 pictures apart before use. Then laminate the top part of the page and the 3 smaller images. This turns the paper into a reusable sequencing activity for your students!
You can take it another step by placing multiple copies of the small images in a themed sensory bin. Challenge the kids to sift through the sensory materials to find each image they need to complete the poem.
