The Hidden Alphabet by Laura Vaccaro Seeger

A must-have for your collection of alphabet books for preschoolers. My version of this lift-the-flap ABC book has been well-loved over the years.

The children see pictures based on the letters’ sounds, lifting the flap to find the letters.

ABC Touch, Think, Learn by Xavier Deneux

A simple, but very aesthetically pleasing, tactile book focused on the letters of the alphabet.

Creature ABC by Andrew Zuckerman

This ABC book is super simple, with the letters paired with real photos of animals around the world.

They don’t always match up with the first sounds taught for each letter, but I love the concept of this engaging book.

Backseat A-B-See by Maria van Lieshout

Environmental print is so important to young children. This book encourages children to see the letters in signs all around them.

Alphabeasties and Other Amazing Types by Sharon Werner

I have to admit, I am in love with this book! It’s important for children to learn that letters are the same no matter what font they’re in.

The illustrations AND the text explain this concept in a way kids will easily understand.

Alphabet City by Stephen T. Johnson

Kids who already recognize most of the alphabet will get a kick out of finding each letter.

Letter Books for Kids YOU Might Be Entertained By

As I was putting together this list of alphabet books for preschoolers, I happened upon a few alphabet books that I found very amusing.

And I just had to share them with you!

Not all of them would necessarily fit in in a preschool classroom . . . but they sure are amusing!

Marvel Alphablock: The Marvel Cinematic Universe from A to Z, An Abrams Block Book

If you and your family are Marvel fans, this might be fun to read to your own kids at home!

DC Super Heroes ABC 123 by David Bar Katz

Now I didn’t want to take sides, so I wanted to let you know that there’s an alphabet book for preschoolers from DC-loving families too!

F is for Fart by J. Heitsch

Yes, this is a real book. I’m not making it up. It did make me laugh when I happened upon it.

Originally, I was going to leave it out of this list of alphabet books for preschoolers.

BUT if your own child is amused by potty humor but isn’t so sure about this whole “learning the alphabet” thing . . . this book might be a funny way to connect with that child and help him/her make some progress learning the ABCs.

P is for Pterodactyl: The Worst Alphabet Book Ever by Raj Haldar

This really isn’t meant for preschoolers, but the title was just begging to be shared.

If you have a precocious child who understands that letter sounds are rather complex, you might want to share a few of the pages from this book.

Or you can just read it yourself and be entertained.
